An Original WW2 US M-1 Fixed Bale Helmet with painted Lt bar and Westinghouse 1st Pattern Rayon Liner.
The McCord fixed bale shell is in a nice original condition with 70% of it's original paint and cork. The early raised bar chin strap is present and shows signs of alot of use. On the front of the helmet shell is a painted rank bar in yellow paint.
The liner is a 1st pattern Westinghouse, the rayon suspension is held to the liner by un-painted square washers. The rayon suspension is fragile in places which is not surprising considering its age.
The rayon sweatband and nape strap are present and original to the liner. The leather chin strap is present but sadly like most fixed chinstraps the leather has snapped.
The liner has it's original flat green paintwork which is in good original condition. The Westinghouse maker stamp is present in the bottom of the dome.
Painted M-1's are a rare find find today...
